Documentary Team Back from Malawi
The Moving Windmillls Production Team
The Moving Windmills documentary team returned to Malawi in July and August for a successful 3-week shoot. The team visited locations throughout the country, including Mangochi, Salima, Lake Malawi, Lilongwe, Kasungu and Wimbe (William’s village). During the visit, William constructed a replica of his original windmill (first built when he was 14 years old), made final repairs to the “Green Machine” (a windmill designed to pump water and irrigate his father’s crops), and completed a new, more aerodynamic and energy efficient windmill.
The documentary team consisted of Tom Rielly (director), Ben Nabors (producer), Michael Tyburski (director of photography), Manuel Lapiere (DP), Tony Bensusan (sound recordist), Carlos Pavan (editor), Blessings Chikakula (country manager), William and Laurent (drivers).
Post-production on the documentary continues. We are looking forward to editing throughout the fall and winter, as well as a subsequent trips to Malawi and South Africa to further tell William’s story.
Moving Windmills Project would like to congratulate the team on a successful shoot, as well as thank our supporters who continue to make this film possible. If you are interested in financially supporting this project, please visit our contributions page.
